An advocate of green, responsible chemistry, Professor Philippe Dubois is an internationally renowned researcher in chemistry and materials science, notably for his cutting-edge research into bioplastics. These innovative processes have led to numerous patented applications in industry, highlighting the essential role of chemistry in the ecological transition. As President and Rector of the University of Mons (UMons), located in French-speaking Belgium, he attaches as much importance to the international reputation of his institution as to the well-being of its students, teachers and researchers. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Montpellier on January 31, 2024.

The France 2030 UM2030- IDéES program, which stands for "Integration and development of IdEx and ISITE", aims to reinforce the central role played by the University of Montpellier by integrating all the partners in the I-SITE consortium in a shared approach. Funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR), IDéES, led by François Pierrot, Vice-President of International Relations, proposes to develop large-scale actions to meet the three major challenges of "Nourish-Warn-Protect" in three areas: Strategic International Partnerships Data science for all sciences Innovation Campus The International and Strategic Partnerships program components The Strategic International Partnerships component aims to raise the site's international profile through international initiatives in line with the priorities of the UM and its partners, as well as the Nourrir-Soigner-Protéger challenges. It aims to strengthen the Montpellier site's capacity to act as a gateway to/from other countries, with a focus on the South, and to facilitate synergy between members of the I-SITE consortium and the complementarity of their international tools and platforms. Build alliances and develop action programs. 3 thematic international Key World Initiatives are being developed to stimulate exchanges and collaborations in an open science dynamic: FOODS (Food Systems) WATERS (Water) VECT-OH (Vector-borne Diseases) Data Science for All Sciences Sub-program leader: Anne Laurent, Vice-President, Open Science and Data, Research The "Data Science for All Sciences" component aims to transform practices and orient all players towards data science by building an effective and sustainable environment. The activities of this project are led by the Institut de Science des Données de Montpellier (ISDM) and are organized into sub-axes to promote best practices in data management and exploitation: Support - Training - Data services. A cross-cutting theme of activities and events is organized as part of the Halles de l'IA Learn more Innovation Campus Sub-program leader: Philippe Combette, Vice-President in charge of partnerships and innovation The "Innovation Campus" component, integrated into the Pôle Universitaire d'Innovation de Montpellier (PUI de Montpellier), offers a complete innovation pipeline and strengthens the University's ability to raise funds from the private sector. The general framework of the Innovation Campus component is in fact part of the site's innovation strategy supported by the PUI de Montpellier, a structuring project led by the University of Montpellier and implemented in close collaboration with 13 institutional partners. This project was conceived at the start of 2022 in line with the MUSE Excellence Initiative, which has now been made permanent, and was one of the 5 pilot sites chosen by the MESR at national level. As such, this strategy is the focal point for a number of initiatives, in particular that relating to the creation of start-ups. The Innovation Campus component of the UM2030 project is particularly focused on strengthening the entrepreneurial support system, with the creation of a dedicated team within the INITIUM Incubator and the creation of a "PEPITE DeepTech incubation pathway" across the PUI. It also provides funding for the winning innovative projects of the Montpellier Innovation Booster - BIM program.
